Open Meditation Practice

Sunday sitting and dharma talk

A morning of shamatha meditation practice with a dharma talk at 11:00am. Taught by senior teachers.

Introductory Programs

Four Noble Truths
Tuesday Evenings 7:30- 9:00, January 22 through February 26
Open to the public

These four strokes of the Buddha directly describe the journey from ignorance to enlightenment. They provide a map of profound depth for both beginners, and advanced practitioners considering refuge or bodhisattva vows; the classes will be led by senior instructors of the Ojai Valley Dharma Center. Classes will include meditation and meditation instruction, talks and discussion. Individual Classes may be attended.

Public Seminars

From Panic to Peace with Noreen Morris, RN

This program is meant for family or professional
care givers, who will receive practical suggestions on
how to work with their own mental states and how
to guide the terminally ill from the shock of a fatal
diagnosis to acceptance of their death. This journey
opens the way for the dying person to have pride and
appreciation for how they have lived their life.
The program includes meditation instruction,
talks and discussion group.

Cost: $75; $50 for seniors 65 and over

Shambhala Education

Shambhala Education Levels
Warrior Training Level V: January 11-13, 2008

A progressive course of training in the the Principles of Warriorship, based on the text Shambhala: Sacred Path of the Warrior, by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. The undergraduate course consists of three sections. Section 1 is two weekends, Section II is two weekends and Section III is one weekend. An in-depth introduction to Kyudo, the Way of the Bow, with Shibata Sensei. This weekend will include demonstrations, Kyudo instruction, meditation instruction. For those who have never shot, it will be a way to prepare for First Shot. For those who already practice kyudo, it will be a way to deepen your understanding of the view and practice of Kyudo.
